The League of Women Voters of Galveston County partners with local ISDs and Higher Up Texas to offer the First Vote! program to Texas City and La Marque high schools.
Beyond simply registering students to vote, the aim of First Vote! is to reach high school students and encourage them to begin the path toward lifelong civic participation with our engaging TEKS-aligned curriculum and voter registration.
First Vote! prioritizes addressing student-specific concerns, equipping them with the voting knowledge and nonpartisan resources they will need before casting their first vote.
We are still in the beginning phases of this program, so a full rollout hasn't occurred yet.
Please get in touch with Kay Lowell, Voter Services and Education Chair, for more information.
